Review of CHI

Tina’s still imagery is incredibly selective and subtly cerebral. When looking her digital imagery nothing seems out of place until the viewer has had time to really consider the implications of the juxtapositions Tina has found existing in the world. We become shocked that such ironies and contradictions actually exist and we wonder about what else is out there that we have missed.

I liken Tina’s approach to artist Andy Goldsworthy’s search for possible uses of natural resources that are clearly outside of their original function, but nonetheless provide a window into their plasticity. It is a particular kind of seeing, a particular kind of opportunism that both Goldsworthy and Tina seek, and the results of their work are startling to the viewer’s imagination. Thus, Tina has found something profoundly potent and provocative.
